Live in Art Design is a small, women owned Landscape Architecture firm in Petaluma California. At Live in Art we strive to create balanced, diverse and thriving landscapes inspired by our beautiful local natural environment. Our approach is holistic and focuses on creating harmonious spaces that are functional, sustainable and beautiful.
Beauty shines bright when a land is connected and there is harmony between the natural elements and the lives that inhabit a space. In addition to people, providing habitat for birds, insects and other garden residents is an important part of our design. This is accomplished with the use of a diversity of California native plants.
Our goal at Live In Art Design is to get more people spending more time outdoors. We design creative comfortable spaces for you to hang out in. Whether that is a small peaceful nook for contemplating and connecting to your surroundings or a large outdoor living room for family and social gatherings, we focus on the details that make a space special.

Plant of the month
Carpenteria californica
This is one of my favorite shrubs. It blooms like crazy in late spring and early summer. The blooms have a pleasant fragrance and are attractive to bees and butterflies. The narrow leaves are dark green and glossy. Bush Anemone grows in full sun or part shade and tolerates low to moderate moisture. This plant makes a great hedge and is a beautiful background shrub to lower growing perennials or grasses.
