Our goal was to increase the usable space here. The existing lawn was not being used and was taking up valuable space. By taking out the lawn and adding a patio area, increasing the footprint of the deck and creating wide steps between the two spaces, we doubled the usable area and created an easy flow throughout. Sometimes it’s the simple idea like the width of a path or stair that can really make a difference. Because the space was petite we opted for clean lines with bold contrasting colors.
